Austrian workaway

01/02/2018 | Work | Koala & Cerise | Wankham, Austria.

Now that we have arrived at our new host, it is more than time to tell you what we did at our previous host in Austria during this stay that lasted more than one month!
We stayed with Bettina and her two children, where we did all kinds of work. First, we helped with daily tasks such as cooking, washing up, cleaning and laundry.
But we also did some bigger works:

  • three water containers stored at the other side of the house
  • a trench to connect the water drain from the kitchen to the sewers, on which we then moved the duck house
  • shelves added inside a cupboard
  • 5 m3 of wood stored inside for the winter to come
  • a fence to the north of the field to prevent the ducks from going to annoy the neighbors
  • a board fixed to make a bar
  • large logs moved with the wheelbarrow from one end of the field to the other
  • 13 boxes of small boards cut into small wood
  • partitions in drawers to put CDs in
  • a sandbox filled with a ton of fine sand
  • a wall painted green in 4 layers
  • a big cork sun in the hallway to hang pictures of all the workawayers who stayed in this house
  • as well as various storage and other tasks

We also enjoyed the snow with or without the kids, which we also took to the kindergarten bus several times in the morning.
We had a good time with this family who welcomed us warmly in her house, although sometimes the cohabitation was more difficult.
Austria is not on our way back, but who knows, on a future trip, we can visit them again.
