Italy - part I

26/11/2017 | News | Koala & Cerise | Italy.

We take advantage of the calm provided by the snow to write a new article. No, you are not dreaming, we are still on the road.
Today, it's been a month since we left France, and within a month, things happened.
First of all, our first (and only) workaway in Italy did not quite go as planned.
We arrived on a Sunday night, in the rain and at nightfall. Our host was not present and it was his companion who welcomed us.
We stayed in a pretty stone cottage with another workawayer.
First shower, with a wood fire water heater, and night in a comfortable bed. So far so good.

The next morning, the rain was still present, accompanied by clouds, our host was still not there, and our roommate showed us summarily how to clean the stable.
We then took some time for ourselves and took advantage of the rare sunbeams to take a short walk in the nearby meadows.
In the evening, our host arrived and brought us food.
During the next three days, the clouds were omnipresent, preventing any outside work.
Our host has tried, without much success, to make us work indoors, but without really detailed explanations.
That's how we sanded down tomettes with a wood sander, remade joints with too dry cement (recipe of our workawayer roommate) and cleaned the stable without precise instructions while we were novices.
All this made us a little upset and we decided to go back on the roads when our host offered us the same thing.
She was very understanding and welcoming, despite the difficulties we encountered working together.
The next morning, backpacked, we returned to find Travis that had to be parked higher up on the road, outside the property.
As soon as we hit the road, the sun came back magically, bringing a big smile on our faces.
Will it last?
