After the first mishaps, we had three wonderful weeks of workaway in Poland.
To start, we went around the huge property on a hill in the middle of the woods. A camping area with a tipi and an old circus wagon is reserved to make it a place of rest and retreat.
We started harvesting the wood that our host had cut. Koala brought back the wood and Cerise cut it into pieces to be able to use it in the stoves of the small wooden house (let's not forget that on upon arrival there was still 30cm of snow).
During the following days, Koala, supervised by our host, learned how to use the chainsaw and was able to cut his first trees to clean the area that will host a hut in the centennial cherry tree, and the camping area where we could make a bonfire and enjoy sausages grilled over fire on a branch.
During her free time, Cerise was able to indulge herself using an old Singer sewing machine from 1937 to make a Viking costume for Koala.
After the snow melted, we were able to change the roof covering of the wood shelter which will be transformed in the next weeks into a place of relaxation. Cerise could also climb on the roof to fill in the biggest holes! And finally we made a metal plating to hide a hole in the ceiling around the stove pipe. Lights were added to the storeroom and planks to the wall to hang tools onto.
Koala was extremely happy to demolish for several hours with the perforator the beautiful staircase variegated stones and concrete at the entrance of the house. Then Cerise was able to build a magnificent wooden staircase and platform.
Then the big day arrived for Cerise She could finally use for the first time the chainsaw, supervised by Koala. And it was with the greatest attention that she cut off her first tree. Thus, the KoalaCerise team could double efficiency to clear an access that will serve as a future road to the house.
