We wish a very happy new year 2018 to all our readers.
May it bring you happiness and travels.
On the travel side, we are doing kind of a break, since it's been nearly a month since we arrived at our workaway host in Austria.
Rest assured, the road is calling us louder and louder, we will soon bring Travis to new horizons.
In the meantime, we were able to spend a New Year's Eve on the roof of the truck watching the thousands of fireworks around us in the valley, after tasting a delicious roast pork at friends of our host.
Since then, our 2018 resolution runs roughly every other day.
Back at our host, we baked a king cake for her and her children and were able to make them discover the tradition of the "fève" (broad bean, replaced for this time by cashew nuts).
Last weekend, we went back to the snowy slopes, but this time for cross-country skiing, first time for Koala.
On the way, on the eve of the epiphany, we were able to witness the local folklore: the Ebensee Glöckler, which since 2010 are part of Unesco's intangible cultural heritage of Austria.
It is a procession dressed in white and capped with huge wooden structures, covered with patchworks representing different scenes or even the name of the city.
These caps require hours of work and weigh more than fourty pounds, as much as the bells that the participants wear on their belts.
Their walk is supposed to keep away bad spirits and attract good ones on the beginning new year.
It was quite impressive to witness this parade, especially as we stumbled across it by chance, wondering why the motorhome area where we sere supposed to sleep was suddenly filled with cars and buses.
What surprises will our next excursions have for us?
